Abstract

In one dimension, we look into unharmonic chain collisions with a hard wall. It is discovered that the coefficient of restitution (COR) has a minimum value at a specific velocity and is strongly impacted by the velocity at which chains meet. The link between COR and collision velocity is determined for low-velocity collisions using perturbation methods. The velocity dependence was found to be characterized by the exponent of the lowest unharmonic term of the interparticle potential energy.
